Education should be free for everyone.
“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.”
Nelson Mandela
Education is a discipline where the active teaching-learning experience takes place. Free and quality access to education is indeed a blessing to mankind. It is the basic need of every child. Education enables a person to have access to different doors in his life. Free education is the most useful for people who cannot handle providing for their families. If children are given an awareness of the importance of education, they will be studious and work hard to help their family have a stable income and thereby a feast at least once a week.
In India, education is free and mandatory for children until the age of fourteen. Education is extremely important so it is a fundamental right and is included in the Constitution of India. In some states in the country, authorities initiated a noon meal plan to attract students to schools. People below the poverty line let their children go to school so that they could at least have a nutritious meal in a day. It is indeed a case of genuine concern and that is why education should be made free and mandatory for every child in India and in the world too.
There are times when free education is not respected. It is the mindset of people that does not let them respect something that is provided for free. In such a scenario, the education provided might go to waste. However, it is not the same for everyone. Some parents take their children for daily labor along with them to earn extra money from the workplace. It is a helpless condition where a parent has to make his child work. Every parent dreams of giving education to children. For such parents, it is favorable as free education will not only let the child acquire knowledge, but it will also ease parents’ burden on paying fees.
Children should be taught and given basic knowledge, information, and skills for them to earn a living. Once a child is educated and earns some skills to get a job, he reaches a stage where he can provide for his family. That is how education helps in the development of a person and his family. If all humans follow the same steps of getting educated and earning a living to take care of their families, poverty can be eradicated from society thereby making a country developed.
Basic education is provided for free, and if the child is willing to put in effort to pursue higher education, he can be guided toward available scholarship programs. A scholarship helps a child to pursue higher education with some financial support. It will ensure quality education and help the child to utilize his available options in the best possible manner.
In conclusion, education is the most powerful weapon. When the word weapon is mentioned, violence might be the first thought that comes to a person’s mind. However, unlike any other weapon, education does not have the touch of violence or bloodshed. Hence, children should be ready to use their opportunities wisely. When a child is allowed to acquire education for free, he should make use of it.
